If you have multiple SATA controllers on your computer's motherboard and/or as add-on cards then you might get confused about what SATA (and eSATA) ports belong to what controller. So if the controller shows up in ESXi, but not the attached disks, then make sure that the disks are connected to the right ports. Placed the NVMe driver in UniBeast USB/EFI/Clover/Kexts/10.11 this enabled the OS X installer to see the drive and allow me to install. Without this driver OS X was unable to even see the NVMe SSD. In System Report it is showing under Storage devices as a PCI SSD. In About This Mac/Storage its showing as an External PCI SSD. This 128GB version has limited write speeds but the read speeds are notably quicker, larger versions of this drive offer much greater, consistent write speeds. As a boot drive it is fast.

In order to make the AHCI installation you need to fit the Windows drive to a standard HDD port and make the installation according to section 5. There is a bummer which may hit you if you already use a SW RAID in OS X with a pre 2009 machine. An OS X software RAID array prevents Windows from recognizing other SATA drives as internal. The installation program will tell you that you are installing to an external drive although you are setting your Windows drive properly up on one of the # 1-4 HDD bay. To work around this problem you can physically remove the RAID disks and put them away for a moment. After installing Windows you can put the array back in and it will run without a problem again, so you need not be concerned to remove the array temporarily. To substitute for your now missing array clone OS X to a single disk before you remove your array and when you have it taken out, fit that disk.
