Atheros AR81xx Series PCI-E Ethernet Controller (NDIS Miniport Driver for Atheros AR813x/AR815x PCI-E Ethernet Controller) Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller, Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (L1c). Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver This package provides driver for Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller and is supported on Alienware Notebook M18XR2/M17XR4/M14XR2 that are running the following Windows Operating Systems: Windows 7. This is a new updated kext and utility directly from MediaTek for the MT7610U and MT7612U network chipset. This utility was updated and released on January 20th 2016 on MediaTek website. I have the Netgear A6210 AC1200-WiFi USB 3.0 Adapter and it works perfectly under OSX 10.11.6 with USB 3.0 and 5GHz networks being recognized. Use the links on this page to download the latest version of Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30) drivers. All drivers available for download have been scanned by antivirus program.

No HDMI audio (just doing research, havnt tried many kexts yet. I have to switch my monitor off and on once at start when the screen becomes garbled. Not tested - USB3 Other than the above, no KPs, no hickups. Been trying the build since two weeks so still newbe, have read a lot on these forums. Built the system with the advise here and everywhere on the internet but missed out on v1.1 using AR8161 (Issues were mixed with some people reporting success and others reporting problems but no mention of the chipset and kext not being available). Saw great progress during these two weeks in terms of the ethernet problem. App store access was essential to my build.

I'm on 10.8.2, using the 1.01 version of the driver. My board is gigabyte h77 DS3H Edit: looks like I can log into the system with boot ignore cache, but if not then kernel panic everytime. Edit 2: due to some unknown reason I no longer experience kernel panic.I really don't know what happened. I just installed some app and nothing else. Thanks again for the great driver! Thank you for the great debug info!

1.1.2 - Rewrote some of the promiscous/multicast mode setting code to hopefully make things all clean and proper and maybe help with Bonjour problems. Filtered multicast reception instead of all-multicast reception should in theory make things a bit faster on a busy network with lots of multicast packets flying around the place, too. 1.1.1 - Fixed a silly bug in the link status code. It was causing problems with resetting the connection status and DHCP stuff when the cable was disconnected etc. Also fixed up some other random bits and pieces for the 32-bit module.

I'm still messing with the code, but I figured if I didn't release something publicly now then I'd spend forever procrastinating and worrying that it wouldn't work for anyone else. While everything seems to be working fine on my own particular machine, it may HORRIBLY BREAK yours. I haven't tested it ANYWHERE else. Please please please make sure you back up everything essential if you want to try this driver. I have only tested it in Mountain Lion.

Is it possible to make it a new kext that support AR8161? Thank you for the feedback! Glad to hear it's all working well. Yes up until now I've had debugging turned on in the kext by default.

It's added with a flag passed at compile time. I've just released version 1.2.0 with debugging disabled in the main kext with a debug version still available in a subdirectory.

For now I'll keep trying to clean up the code as best I can and with a little luck things may fix themselves eventually. If you feel like rummaging through a long log file, you could follow the steps here: and see if you can find anything unusual.

App store access was essential to my build. This weekend trying to make Audio over HDMI work Note: for some reason, this thread is really hard to find. Is there a way this could be popularized? Maybe you can contact the moderators. Hello, thanks for the driver! The first time I restart the computer after install the drive, the ethernet is working! However, subsequent restarts all result in kernal panic.

It will install the wireless utility and all associated files but not the actual kext. I have included the kext as a standalone as well. Install the Kext with kext utility then run the installer pkg. Reboot and you will have a perfectly working USB wireless stick. Confirmed working macOS 10.12.1 RT2870USBWirelessDriver.kext.zip 1,476 downloads • • • (and 10 more). Universal driver for Mac OS X 10.x.x.

This will output much more info to /var/log/system.log. Remove any old version: sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/ALXEthernet.kext (Don't forget to also remove any potentially conflicting kexts from the Extensions directory, e.g.

Yes up until now I've had debugging turned on in the kext by default. It's added with a flag passed at compile time. I've just released version 1.2.0 with debugging disabled in the main kext with a debug version still available in a subdirectory. Hopefully it still works all okay since it also adds compiler optimisations. It seemed fine for me though. In future I hope to implement a debug log system that can be toggled through the Info.plist.

I'll walk you through those tests later in this review. You start by importing clips by navigating to the Import button shown at the top left of the main window, or simply dragging clips onto the left column, as you can see I've already done in Figure 1 (below). It runs outside of any other software, independently, which is its biggest strength. What is prodad. Sadly from what I've read in comments in the Linux and BSD code, checksum offloading for received packets is broken at the hardware level in at least some of the chipsets. I'll have to investigate it some more to see if it is the case with all of these chipsets or just the older ones.

Seems to work fine, but this motherboard of mine works smoothly with UEFI and no custom DSDT stuff. Older BIOS-based machines might have some DSDT-related weirdness. - If I remember correctly there was a bug with Bonjour/Zeroconf not showing other servers in Finder. I haven't seen it in the new code. - The code should hopefully be 64-bit safe, even with more than 4GB of memory being used. - VLAN was sort of working when I checked a while ago, but it might have broken again since then. - A few minor bits and pieces I've forgotten, probably just Mac OS code related.

I want to thank the whole community for their efforts and content provided, because without these it would not be possible to create this installer. I would appreciate comments and suggestions!! Personally I prefer doing it manually from the terminal. For testing or reporting bugs, please use the kext in the 'Debug' subdirectory.

Asking the kernel to allocate chunks of contiguous physical memory tends to be rather touchy, but I don't think these cards tolerate anything less. I'll double check everything is still working okay on my desktop machine when I'm back home tomorrow and hopefully get 1.0.2 out soon after that. It's possible that your kernel cache simply got corrupted. I've had that happen to me once or twice in the past. It might have to do with deleting the cache while the kextd daemon has partially rebuilt it already. I might alter my installation instructions to be less 'aggressive', I guess you could say.

Sadly I don't know much about those since there don't seem to be any hardware specifications out there on the web and as far as I can tell, the Linux driver seems to have been written by Atheros staff. The other possibility is that there is a different problem unrelated to the driver. The only suggestions I can think of there would be to restart Bonjour in the terminal with: sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist Another suggestion to try would be to turn on the PXE Boot ROM or equivalent setting in the BIOS. This sometimes helps if you're lucky. I hope one of these helps. It's an AR8132, internal Ethernet. Tested it today, it seems that there's some dnssd functionality working, but as before it don't work too good, It shows with Bonjour Browser that's is broadcasting a list of services, like Itunes shared music, connects and worked fine, but things like detecting the computer from a Macbook seems to be broken, it's like some services are lost on connection, to be honest I don't know.

I have just got myself a WiFi card with Atheros AR3980 chipset (devID 168c,30 - Sub Ven 106b Sub Dev 009a), which I thought was supposed to work out of the box(?), as it's the same that Apple uses natively (checked the info.plist in AirportAtheros40.kext)(?) I plugged in the card, restarted, then tried to set it up in System Pref under Network by adding the device with the '+' but WIFI doesn't show up, only my 2x ethernet ports and bluetooth.

BTW, another question.

Hope it helps. Thanks for the error report! That's one of my 'oh no this should never happen!' Messages, so it's easy for me to pinpoint. I've been tinkering with the memory allocation code a bit lately, so I've hopefully fixed it with a more suitable allocation method that isn't a holdover from the original AtherosL1cEthernet code.

This is the atl1c driver though, not the alx driver. As such, there is no support for AR8161 or AR8162 I'm afraid. - I added Wake on LAN and Wake on Demand / Bonjour Sleep Proxy stuff. Seems to work fine, but this motherboard of mine works smoothly with UEFI and no custom DSDT stuff. Older BIOS-based machines might have some DSDT-related weirdness.

UPDATE 10/1/2016 I have had some serious trouble updating my system to macOS 10.12 Sierra but I have finally seemed to have gotten it working. When I have done a clean install and installing this package afterwards, It didn't seem to work.

Now if I could only convince you to try and port over support for this Intel wireless card as well. I am on Asus n56VM as well and the kext works perfectly (pretty fast) on Clover UEFI (great boot loader!) v2 in S/L/E But in chameleon the kext output an error message and is not loaded. Hope it helps.

Usually these things are from buffer allocations gone horribly wrong. :thumbsup_anim: Thank you, thank you thank you.:thumbsup_anim: Confirming only one feature. AR8161 is recognized by the OSX 10.8.2.

If you unplug the card before it establish a connection successfully, the driver is easy to hang).

This would cause a kernel panic from writing beyond the buffer. I'll attach another version to this post that doesn't use this space saving. Hopefully this will fix the issue for you! I fixed a couple of bugs that were annoying me and added the new version to the first post. Everything seems to be working fine on my machine currently.
