The audio output of the FM tuner in these devices is used to modulate an internal AM oscillator. When this signal is fed to an AM-only auto radio, it enables the radio to receive FM broadcasts. Now that virtually every car has FM, there is no longer any need for these devices in cars; but they can find good use in the homes of radio collectors.

I have made the discission to stick with my origanal radio and add a audiovox FM converter From Ebay. Has anybody out there added one of these converters to a wonderbar radio. The last thing i want to do is screw up my radio.( Will the elec. Antenae still work?

Lose the static and crackle by hard-wiring your satellite radio directly to your vehicles FM radio. This FM modulator adapter allows you to connect any non to your vehicle's in-dash receiver through its FM tuner. It's a great way to enjoy XM's programming through your factory radio. Product Details • Crystal-Clear Audio Quality - Enjoy the full, crisp sound of Satellite Radio with this direct hardline connection rather than be bothered with static or interference. • How It Works - The adapter takes the signal from the wireless FM modulator that's built into many of the plug and play receivers, and sends it to your car's radio via its antenna jack, so the signal from the XM receiver can be heard over an unused FM frequency. • Universally Compatible - Enables connection to any head unit (adapters can be purchased at your local electronics store if necessary) using any Plug-&-Play Satellite Radio Receiver without PowerConnect.

Setting the phone's BT volume out to about 2/3 works well. Here in the Baltimore/DC area the FM band is pretty crowded and there's only a couple of spots on the 'dial' that work well. Got lucky in that respect.

Apps can only make use of features that exist in hardware. There is no FM radio in an iPhone, so no app can do this. Why can t i download spotify on my pc. There are adaptors out there that charge the iphone from a cigarette lighter and broadcast to the radio in your car for pretty cheap. You could also use this as a great excuse to put in a new car radio with a USB plug on the front. I have a pioneer in my car for bluetooth, iPhone music, charging, and GPS through the speakers. If you do go this route, do NOT buy a pioneer. They are glitchy as hell with iPhones.

Receiving FM stations on an antique or classic AM radio requires only a converter, a 12-volt/500mA wall-type power supply, such as a Radio Shack part number 273-1773, and an FM antenna. An automotive-type antenna is not required.

JVC radios get good praise around here. If you want an FM transmitter, you can see if an apple store would have one, or just walk into any radio shack, best buy, etc and ask.

2) When you get a call and put the call into your car speakers, can you use your phones mic instead of the Belkins mic? I'd like to hide the Belkin where the mic will be far away and inside a console so it will be useless, but my phone is up on my vent close to my face so would rather use the phones mic, but the cars speaker. Thanks much for the reply!!!

FM modulators suck. Or at least they have for a long time.

I have made the discission to stick with my origanal radio and add a audiovox FM converter From Ebay. Has anybody out there added one of these converters to a wonderbar radio. The last thing i want to do is screw up my radio.( Will the elec. Antenae still work? ) I drive my car maybe once a week, and do not need a super audio system with stereo and a CD player. But i would like to listen to music on Fm thru my wonderbar Radio.

Click to expand.Yeah I was very much looking at that one, it was between that Belkin and the GrooveOne Bluegate. Couple of questions if you don't mind: 1) How 'automatic' is connecting every time you get in and out of the car? Does it stay paired, do you have to turn on the Belkin or does it turn on with the car/power port? Does it connect automatically? This is my issue with the GrooveOne, you have to press a button for 5 seconds every time you get in the car to power it up, and that's kind of unacceptable.

After working for Sprague Electric Company, he went on to get a Ph.D in Applied Physics and a career in magnetic recording. His collection focuses on radios of the 1930s-1960s era and on professional test equipment. The author's setup consists of an Atwater Kent Model 84 and an Audiovox FMC-5C converter. Hello, I have thought about the idea of installing a newer radio in my car, maybe hiding one in the glove compartment. Then i would have to get into speakers and all that stuff. My wonderbar radio is in perfect working condition.

For some reason music audio which was streamed sounded great, but streaming a phone call was horrible, static, dropouts, and it sounded like they were in a bubble. Also the microphone wasn't too good, and I had it just a bit lower than mouth level about a foot in front of me. The last straw was the annoyance at always having to hit the button to re connect, the Kinivo will be nice with its auto connect. Well just returned the Belkin and ordered the Kinivo. The Belkin for just streaming audio was superb, but it failed badly in other areas.

Options for all of these topics are frequently discussed in the Accessories subforum. Most FM transmitters don't work very well -- especially in large cities with crowded FM.
