Dec 18, 2012 Size-wise, the Logitech Rechargeable Trackpad for Mac is identical to Apple's Magic Trackpad, measuring 5.25 inches wide by 5 inches deep. Unlike the Apple trackpad, the Rechargeable Trackpad does. Logitech just unveiled a new Bluetooth Easy-Switch Keyboard for Mac, iPad, and iPhone and a Rechargeable Trackpad for Mac. Logitech Rechargeable Touchpad T650 Driver
Logitech just unveiled a new for Mac, iPad, and iPhone and a for Mac. The keyboard sports the familiar Mac layout with access to Mission Control, and it mimics Apple’s style with a “sleek aluminum design” and backlit key characters. Logitech touted the Easy-Switch function as a streamlined way for users to type on their Mac and toggle over to an iOS device with just the touch of a button. The wireless trackpad offers multi-touch control and supports the full range of Mac OS gestures on a smooth glass surface that is engineered with “embedded precision sensors and resistance to fingerprints and scratches.” The most unique feature, however, is that both the trackpad and keyboard are rechargeable through a USB cable.
Unfortunately, the Logitech T651’s lack of precise finger tracking (and precision in general) is its downfall. If Logitech had employed just a little bit more attention to detail, they could have had a real Magic Trackpad competitor on their hands. Instead, the T651 fails in performing it’s most important task as a trackpad: precise gestures and precise cursor control. As a result, I have difficulty recommending it to anyone who plans to use it for anything more than office work and web browsing.
Today Logitech announced the expansion of its Mac lineup with two new products: the Logitech Bluetooth Easy-Switch Keyboard for Mac, iPad and iPhone and the Logitech Rechargeable Trackpad for Mac. Each product brings new dimensions to the way you navigate and control your favorite Apple products.
The keyboard also features the familiar Mac layout with Mac-specific keys and a sleek, aluminum design to match the Apple style. The Logitech Rechargeable Trackpad has a silky smooth glass surface that enables easy navigation. Download new pages for mac. With a touch area that’s larger than the typical Mac touchpad, it’s easy to take advantage of the full range of Mac OS® multi-touch gestures. The trackpad also makes battery hassles a thing of the past. A battery indicator light will let you know when power is running low so you can simply plug in via USB and keep working while it recharges. Tell us in the comments below, what do you think of these two new products?
Great news Apple fans! Today, Logitech announced the expansion of its Apple lineup with two exciting new Bluetooth® products: the for Mac®, iPad® and iPhone® and the for Mac. Both products bring enhanced navigation and control of your favorite Apple products through new dimensions of design, touch and illumination.
I’d prefer a smart-shutoff feature, like the one on Logitech’s wireless keyboards, that would put the trackpad to sleep after a certain period of inactivity, but since recharging is quick and painless—and because you can use the Rechargeable Trackpad while it charges—this is a minor complaint. The Rechargeable Trackpad’s surface doesn’t feel noticeably different from that of the Magic Trackpad, but the incline of the trackpad’s surface does. The back of the Magic Trackpad sits about 3/4 of an inch off the ground (largely due to the space required for AA batteries), while the Rechargeable Trackpad’s rear rises only 1/4 of an inch. It’s unlikely that you’ll miss the Magic Trackpad’s incline, especially if you’re comfortable with the fully flat trackpads built into Apple’s laptops. Like the Magic Trackpad, the Rechargeable Trackpad physically clicks by making its front two feet double as buttons; when you push down on the trackpad, those feet trigger a pointer click.

You charge that battery by connecting one end of the included USB-to-Micro-USB cable to the Micro-USB port on the back of the trackpad, and the other end to a USB port on your Mac. Logitech says three hours of charging should give you about 60 hours of use. To conserve battery power, you switch off the Rechargeable Trackpad using a power switch on the right-hand edge.
However, getting some of the other gestures to work was problematic. It appears that Logitech will have drivers available soon; at this time, the address listed on the bottom of the trackpad redirects to a master mouse / trackpad driver page, and the T651 (the model number for this device) is not currently listed. Of course, this trackpad is also listed as 'available for pre-order,' so it's not surprising that the full driver set isn't yet available. I have no doubt that the company will soon have drivers available to make all other standard OS X gestures work perfectly. Conclusion If you'd like a fully-functional and rechargeable trackpad for your Mac, Logitech's Rechargeable Trackpad is a worthy competitor to Apple's Wireless Trackpad. As soon as the full driver set is available -- which should be soon -- the Rechargeable Trackpad will support all OS X gestures.
